The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has reopened the Los Alcores indoor pool after improvements made in August. The works included the renewal of filtration and purification systems.
The indoor pool Los Alcores at the Municipal Sports Centre of Malasmañanas has reopened its doors to face a new season after improvement and refurbishment works carried out during August by the Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council.
The actions have allowed for a comprehensive refurbishment of the facility, with interventions in common areas and in the pool basins, and especially in the filtration and purification systems.
The aim of the Sports delegation has been to take advantage of the summer period, coinciding with lower activity, to carry out both the usual maintenance work and extraordinary actions that ensure optimal conditions for users during the new season.
Works for the expansion and modernization of all changing rooms will soon be awarded, a project that will be executed in phases and, therefore, without closing the pool facilities.
“The City Council continues to bet on maintaining and improving our sports facilities because they are fundamental spaces for sports practice, health, and the well-being of our residents. We have taken advantage of August to carry out a comprehensive action at Los Alcores and prepare the facility for a new season with greater guarantees,” said the Sports delegate, Pedro Gracia.
Gracia highlighted the effort made to ensure that the indoor pool starts the season in the best conditions, acting not only on visible elements but also on fundamental installations such as filtration, purification, and overflow systems.
In the pools and common areas, conditioning and painting have been carried out, knobs, showerheads, hooks, latches, and grilles have been replaced, and assisted closing systems and new door stops have been installed. The dosing circuits have also been sanitised, the pool decks repaired and painted, tiles fixed, and drainage systems improved, in addition to a deep cleaning of the entire facility.
In terms of accessibility, the motor for the chair for people with reduced mobility has been replaced, and a new system has been installed. In the hydraulic and purification systems, the overflows have been waterproofed, perimeter grilles renewed, and the filtration systems of both pools replaced. In the large pool, the silica sand filtration system has been changed to a glass one, and existing leaks have been repaired.
The indoor pool Los Alcores is a reference facility for sports practice, with a programme that caters to different profiles and needs. It offers Children's Swimming Courses, Swimming for Seniors, Swimming for Babies, Swimming for Adults, Therapeutic Swimming, and Free Swimming.
These proposals are complemented by activities with associations, clubs, groups, and educational centres, as well as competitions and other sporting events. In total, the facility serves an average of 1,200 users monthly, a figure that reflects the high demand for this municipal infrastructure.
Users can return to use the pool immediately, with the usual hours for the season starting in September.
