The cultural programme Noctaíra celebrates its tenth edition with a varied offering that includes concerts, theatre, and flamenco. This week, the concert by Judit Neddermann at the Castle and the play 'Victoria Kent' stand out.
Summer in Alcalá de Guadaíra has a name: Noctaíra. The cultural and tourist programme that transforms the summer nights of the town every year is celebrating its tenth edition with a schedule that encompasses music, theatre, flamenco, and family activities. The initiative, which started on July 2 and will run until September 12, has established itself as an unmissable event for locals and visitors from across the province.
The delegate for Tourism and Culture, Christopher Rivas, has highlighted the variety and quality of the offerings, which this year include everything from immersive shows to concerts by renowned artists. "Noctaíra's proposals for the summer nights attract the public due to their variety and quality, allowing citizens and visitors to enjoy culture and leisure while discovering unique places in the city," Rivas noted.
A week full of activities
This Tuesday, July 21, 'Searching for Oz' returns, an immersive proposal that has become one of the highlights of the programme. The activity, held every Tuesday in July and August at the Dragon Park at 22:00, allows groups of up to one hundred spectators to delve into a unique experience. Tickets are free and can be reserved one week before each performance through the municipal ticketing website: entradas.alcaladeguadaira.es.
On Wednesday, July 22, the Castle of Alcalá de Guadaíra will host a concert by singer-songwriter, composer, and guitarist Judit Neddermann. The artist, who has five solo albums and a MAX Award, will present a repertoire that combines folklore, pop, and jazz. The event will take place at 22:30 in the same scenic space of the Castle.
On Thursday, July 23, theatre will take over with the play 'Victoria Kent', performed by the company Arteporelarte. The performance recreates the story of this exiled and persecuted woman, who adopted the identity of Madame Duval during her exile in Paris. From her apartment in New York, Victoria Kent recounts to her companion Louise, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, episodes from her life in exile. The play is a tribute to friendship and the fight against the oblivion of pioneering women.
Flamenco takes centre stage on Fridays
Fridays at Noctaíra are synonymous with flamenco. On July 24, the San Miguel Centre will host a performance by Antonio Núñez 'El Pulga', a Gaditan artist with extensive experience as a soloist and collaborator with major flamenco figures. He has performed in theatres and festivals across Spain, Europe, America, and parts of Asia, and is also known as a composer. Among his most famous works is the song 'El Alfarero', performed by Miguel Poveda on his album 'Artesano'.
Noctaíra is not just a summer programme, but "a way of living and feeling Alcalá" and "a way to come together around culture," Rivas emphasized. The delegate reminded that "we celebrate ten years of culture, of shared nights, and of spaces full of life. Ten years of a programme that is part of the summer for the entire province."
