The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has approved the file to award the works for the second phase of the covered court at the Pablo VI sports complex, which includes changing rooms and storage for €454,666.
The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has given the green light to the contracting file for the second phase of the new covered court at the municipal sports complex Pablo VI. This action, budgeted at €454,666, will complete the pavilion with the construction of an adjoining module that will house changing rooms, storage, and technical facilities.
The works, scheduled to begin next autumn, will focus on the east façade of the covered court. A new building of 168.25 square meters constructed and 145.45 square meters usable will be erected there, which will connect directly with the main pavilion through communication passages. The intervention responds to the need to equip the facility with essential auxiliary services for its operation.
The new module will feature male and female changing rooms, a storage area linked to sports activities, a cleaning room, and a space for the machinery and equipment of the changing rooms. All habitable spaces will have natural lighting and ventilation thanks to east-facing windows.
The covered court at Pablo VI, as a whole, has involved a total investment of over one million euros, funded by the Sevilla 107 Plan of the Provincial Council. The first phase has already materialised a court measuring 40 by 30 meters, with a total area of 1,694 square meters and a minimum free height of 8.5 meters, in addition to new lighting and a modern sports floor.
The mayor of Alcalá de Guadaíra has emphasised that the construction of this space was necessary to practice sports regardless of weather conditions. She added that this second phase incorporates the changing rooms that will serve the court and allow a direct connection between both spaces, completing modern, functional facilities adapted to the needs of clubs and the public.
With this action, the City Council completes one of the most significant projects for improving municipal sports infrastructure. The new covered court expands the offer of covered spaces for sports practice, responding to high public demand and the increase in physical activity in the municipality. The Pablo VI complex thus consolidates itself as a reference point for athletes, clubs, and users of Alcalá de Guadaíra.
Once completed, the covered court will be able to host indoor sports competitions such as handball, futsal, or basketball, among others. The direct connection with the changing rooms will facilitate the logistics of matches and training, improving the experience for athletes. Additionally, the storage area will allow for the orderly and secure storage of sports equipment.
The project is part of the municipal strategy to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle. The mayor has reminded that the City Council continues to work to provide all neighbourhoods with quality sports facilities. The investment in Pablo VI adds to other actions in different parts of the city, such as the renovation of multipurpose courts or the construction of new outdoor spaces.
Residents of the Pablo VI area and the rest of Alcalá de Guadaíra will benefit from these facilities once the works are completed. The second phase is expected to be finished by next spring, allowing full use of the pavilion. The City Council has announced that it will keep the public informed about the execution schedule.
