Alcalá de Guadaíra finalises works on La Mina street and Plaza del Cabildo

The second phase of the reform of La Mina street and Plaza del Cabildo is progressing well and on schedule. The mayor, Ana Isabel Jiménez, is confident that the project will be completed in the last quarter of the year.

The works for the second phase of La Mina street and Plaza del Cabildo in Alcalá de Guadaíra are nearing completion. The work is maintaining the expected pace and deadlines, as confirmed by the mayor, Ana Isabel Jiménez, during a visit to the area alongside the delegate for Urban Planning and Strategic Planning, Jesús Mora.

The underground infrastructure is now complete: the new sewage and stormwater network, the LED lighting networks, and those intended for the Smart City. Currently, workers are paving the street.

The municipal forecast is that the entire project will be completed by the last quarter of this year, that is, before the end of 2026. The intervention transforms one of the most emblematic spaces in the city into an accessible, safe urban environment designed to promote coexistence and economic activity.

“We are transforming this space to make it more welcoming, accessible, and designed for people. A new urban space that will encourage coexistence and also boost commercial activity,” explained the mayor.

Jiménez added that it is “an exciting project that continues to shape the new urbanism of Alcalá and that we will soon be able to enjoy in the heart of our city.”

The design incorporates quality urban furniture elements that will continue the aesthetics of the first phase, as well as artistic motifs linked to the history of Alcalá. The Plaza del Cabildo will maintain its traditional character, with restored streetlights and orange trees, while new plant species will be planted on La Mina street to enhance environmental and landscape quality.

With the joint action in both areas, a new urban space will be created, conceived as the heart of the city, recovering the historical character of this street and projecting it into the future. Local residents and nearby businesses will see how the space gains width and accessibility once the works are completed.
