The municipal family reconciliation program Verano Corresponsables has catered to a hundred children each week between June 23 and September 9 at the Equality Centre. The Ludoteca Concilia, which started in September, still has places available.
The Equality Delegation of the Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has closed the summer season of the Verano Corresponsables program, a free initiative supporting reconciliation that has brought together a hundred children each week at the Equality Centre. The service operated from June 23 to September 9, as reported by the Equality delegate, Abril Castillo Sarmiento.
The councillor explained that the program has a dual objective: to provide leisure and social interaction for children during the summer and to help families balance work, family, and personal life. "This initiative impacts equality of opportunity, as it addresses the necessary enjoyment and sociability of children during the summer, and supports families who need help balancing work, family, and personal activities according to their circumstances," Castillo Sarmiento stated.
"This project started in 2024 and since then has achieved a high degree of satisfaction among the families using it, both for the professional care and the fun of the participants, as well as for the family support"
The activities took place from 8:00 to 15:00 hours and included physical-sporting, artistic, musical, reading promotion, co-educational actions, social skills, theatre, cinema, dance, crafts, values education, and outings to the local environment. These activities fostered friendships and values such as solidarity, companionship, respect, and equality, according to municipal sources.
The program is co-financed by the Corresponsables Plan of the Ministry of Equality, through the Department of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality of the Andalusian Government. The delegate noted that the service has been repeated during non-school periods throughout the year, also with high demand.
At the same time, in September, the Ludoteca Concilia 'Guardians of Alcalá' has started, which occupies weekday afternoons from 16:00 to 21:00 hours at the Equality Centre. It is aimed at children aged 3 to 12 years and has 60 weekly places. The programming is organised into thematic weeks focusing on care, equality, community, and movement, and includes the collective construction of a symbolic shield of the Alliance.
There are still places available for this ludoteca, which interested families can apply for at the Equality Centre or through the QR code provided by the City Council. The initiative is part of the Corresponsables Plan, promoted by the Secretary of State for Equality and against Gender Violence and funded by the General Secretariat for Families, Equality, Gender Violence, and Diversity.
The program also includes two meetings for families. The first, 'The Guardian's Relay', will be held on Thursday, September 17 to involve parents and other male role models in shared care. The closing event will be on September 30 with 'The Great Alliance Party'.
