The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council is finalising the repair project for the slope of the Camino de la Retama with the electrical company, closed since February due to a landslide. Delegate Luisa Campos urges respect for the barriers.
The Camino de la Retama, on the left bank of the Guadaíra River, has been closed to traffic since last February. The landslide on the right slope occurred in the area where an energy distribution company was carrying out underground works and the installation of electrical networks, according to the Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council.
The earth movement caused partial damage to the path's platform, harmed the landscaped slope of the Ribera de La Retama Park, and destroyed the wooden barrier for limitation and protection. Several trees also fell, and the slope's stabilization and ornamental vegetation were completely lost.
Due to the impossibility of passage, the Delegation of Natural Monuments, Environment and Sustainability ordered the complete closure of that section for safety reasons. Since then, technicians from the Urban Habitat and Environment delegations have been working with the electrical company to repair the area.
The company is drafting the restoration project. Once presented, municipal technicians from both delegations will supervise it, and the City Council will approve it before executing the works: complete restoration of the slope, safety elements, vegetation, and paving of the path. The aim is to reopen the route for general use.
The delegate for Natural Monuments, Environment and Sustainability, Luisa Campos, has reminded that the path will remain closed to pedestrians and vehicles until it is repaired.

The closure affects a usual route for residents and visitors around the river. Until the works are completed, traffic will remain prohibited in that section, and the barriers will continue to mark the area.
