The Local Government Board of Alcalá de Guadaíra has given the green light to the contracting of the execution project and the technical direction of the future judicial headquarters, which will be built in the old police station at Plaza del Derribo.
The Local Government Board of Alcalá de Guadaíra has approved the contracting file to draft the execution project and the technical direction of the works for the municipality's future judicial headquarters. The service is put out to tender with a base budget of €696,496 and a maximum deadline of eight months for its drafting.
The project responds to a historical demand from the city, whose current courts, scattered between Plaza del Duque and Rafael Santos Street, suffer from significant limitations in space, functional organization, and accessibility. The new headquarters will allow the four existing courts to be consolidated into a single building and will reserve space for a fifth, anticipating the growth of the municipality.
The initiative is part of the agreement signed in February between the mayor, Ana Isabel Jiménez, and the then Minister of Justice, José Antonio Nieto, to execute the headquarters in the old police station at Plaza del Derribo, a historic building designed by architect Juan Talavera. The project includes preserving its façade due to its heritage value and expanding the building with two adjacent plots to reach approximately 3,480 square meters of constructed area.
The City Council will undertake an investment of around €8 million for the comprehensive rehabilitation. Once the works are completed, the building will be handed over to the Junta de Andalucía, which will be responsible for the technological equipment and necessary means for judicial service. In return, the regional administration will pay an annual fee of €295,236 for 30 years, allowing the City Council to recover the entire investment.
After this period, the property will revert to full municipal ownership, with the option to renew the agreement or allocate it to other uses. The initiative will not only improve the working conditions of justice professionals and citizen service but will also boost the revitalization of the historic centre of Alcalá de Guadaíra.
The next step will be the tendering of the contract, which will include both the drafting of the project and the technical direction of works that are expected to be key for the modernization of judicial service in the Los Alcores region.
