The AP-4 is experiencing delays of nearly 20 kilometres this Saturday between Los Palacios and Las Cabezas de San Juan, heading towards Cádiz. The DGT recommends caution and anticipates delays.
The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has detected congestion since 11:42 this Saturday, which has reached 19 kilometres on the AP-4, between kilometre points 21 and 40, near Los Palacios and Villafranca and Las Cabezas de San Juan. The service level is yellow and no accidents have been recorded.
The third lane, with no date
According to sources from the Government Subdelegation in Seville, there is still no date for the opening of the reversible third lane that is implemented in summer to ease traffic towards the coast. This measure, requested by drivers and local councils, remains unconfirmed despite the recurring traffic jams.
The congestion repeats every summer weekend: Seville residents looking for the beach encounter delays that begin right at the exit of the capital. The DGT recommends driving with caution and anticipating significant delays.
Also delays on the A-4 near Dos Hermanas
It is not the only problematic area. The A-4 also shows slow traffic due to congestion, heading towards San Fernando, with 3 kilometres of delays between kilometre points 552 and 555, near Dos Hermanas. The incident began at 11:41.
For drivers leaving Seville, the accumulation of vehicles has become a common occurrence on Saturday in July. The lack of quick alternatives and the delay in the construction of the third lane generate frustration among users, who see how a journey of just over an hour can double.
The DGT keeps warnings active on its panels and recommends checking traffic conditions before setting out. Meanwhile, traffic jams will continue to be the prelude to many beach days.
