The Osuna Town Council will contribute over €33,000 to install a lift and stairlift in Block 9 of the Barriada de Andalucía, a €168,000 project aimed at eliminating architectural barriers.

The Osuna Town Council has announced its financial collaboration for the installation of a lift and a stairlift in Block 9 of the Barriada de Andalucía. The mayor, Rosario Andújar, along with several members of the government team, met with residents to detail the terms of the municipal aid.

The project, with a total budget of €168,000, will receive a grant from the Council of over €33,000, which represents 20% of the total cost. The remainder will be financed through the regional department, under the Government of Spain's Plan Vive, and with contributions from the beneficiaries themselves.

This initiative is part of the local government's commitment to eliminating architectural barriers and improving the quality of life for residents, especially those with mobility issues. According to municipal sources, the aim is to facilitate access to homes on equal terms.

The agreement, adopted by the Town Council in 2023, establishes the allocation of financial resources to promote accessibility in homeowners' communities that meet the established requirements. This line of aid adds to other initiatives outlined in the Osuna Accessibility Plan and the Municipality Mobility Plan, which aim to remove obstacles and enhance mobility for all citizens.

The meeting, held in the Plenary Hall, was attended by the first deputy mayor, Brígida Pachón; the second deputy mayor, Asunción Bellido; and the third deputy mayor, Manuel Rodríguez. During the meeting, residents were informed of the steps to take to apply for the municipal call.

The Barriada de Andalucía is one of the most populated areas of Osuna, and Block 9 houses numerous families, some of whom have elderly or disabled individuals. The installation of the lift and stairlift will represent a significant change in their daily lives, allowing them to enter and exit their homes without relying on others.

The Osuna Town Council reminds interested parties that they can request more information at the municipal registry or through official channels. The works, once awarded, will be carried out within an estimated timeframe of several months, although the Council has not specified exact dates.

This action adds to other similar projects carried out in recent years in various neighbourhoods of the locality, as part of a global strategy to make Osuna a more accessible and inclusive municipality. The Accessibility Plan, approved in 2022, includes dozens of measures to eliminate barriers in public buildings, sidewalks, and common spaces.
