The City Council of Osuna begins the restoration of the façade of the Old Audiencia, built in 1779, with a grant from the Junta de Andalucía exceeding 100,000 euros. The building will house the future Citizen Participation Centre.
The City Council of Osuna has launched the restoration works for the façade of the Old Audiencia, a historic building constructed in 1779 that will become the future Citizen Participation Centre. The municipal delegate for Culture and Historical Heritage, Jesús Heredia, and the second deputy mayor, Asunción Bellido, have supervised the start of the works.
The action, which represents the final phase of the rehabilitation of the property, will allow for "the incorporation of a new monumental façade to the urban heritage of Osuna," as Heredia pointed out during the visit. The building will host a significant part of the associative fabric of the locality, which "will have an adequate space to develop its activities, while promoting coexistence and collaboration among them," he added.
The works are supported by a grant from the PATCUL programme of the Junta de Andalucía, exceeding 100,000 euros, to which the City Council contributes around 6,000 euros. This investment is part of a global strategy to attract funding to continue recovering local heritage.
In this regard, the delegate recalled the investments from the Sustainable Tourism Plan in Destination, with about 700,000 euros allocated to heritage actions such as the surroundings of the Collegiate Church, the Medieval Alcazaba, or the crypt of the Tourist Innovation Centre. This is complemented by an investment of 1.7 million euros from the state programme of 2% Cultural for the rehabilitation of the Old University.
Heredia also highlighted the granting of this PATCUL aid for the façade of the Old Audiencia and another grant obtained by the Art Board to intervene in the Collegiate Church. The City Council will continue to work to access new funding lines, such as the application submitted for the 2% Cultural for the Water Tower and a proposal close to half a million euros to the Provincial Council of Seville for enhancing the natural heritage of the Las Turquillas estate.
The restoration of the façade will contribute to beautifying the historic centre of Osuna and completing the rehabilitation of a building that will be key for the associative life of the municipality. The works will take place in the coming months, and the Citizen Participation Centre will open its doors once the works are completed.
