Last Friday, the summer pool of Castilleja de la Cuesta hosted a new edition of Warrior Pool, an obstacle competition on giant inflatables that brought together dozens of locals. The Sports Delegate, Manuel Calderón, presented the awards to the winners of the various categories.
The municipal summer pool of Castilleja de la Cuesta turned into a floating obstacle course last Friday. Dozens of locals, from children to adults, participated in the second edition of Warrior Pool, a competition that combines agility, balance, and endurance on giant inflatables set up in the water.
The event, organised by the Town Hall of Castilleja de la Cuesta through its Sports Delegation, kicked off in the afternoon and continued until dusk. Participants, divided into three age categories —Genin (2014-2018), Chunin (2010-2013), and Jounin (2009 and earlier)— faced a timed challenge course. The atmosphere, according to municipal sources, was one of “great sportsmanship and fun”, with families and friends cheering from the edge of the pool.
The fastest on the water
In the female Genin category, the victory went to Claudia Fernández Arias, who completed the course in 43”24. She was followed by Lola Bernat Aguirre (44”43) and Fabiola Goncet Lage (45”38). In the male category, the fastest was Jesús Mesa Fernández with a time of 23”46, ahead of Airam Meco Tavio (27”73) and Enzo Roldán Amaya (31”31).
In Chunin, the intermediate category, Celia Vázquez González triumphed in the female section with 32”94, followed by Laura Redondo Molina (33”68) and Yadira Ramos González (37”67). In the male category, Iván Daniel Alberca Fernández set the best time: 20”33, surpassing Jesús Muñoz Ramos (21”05) and Mario Vázquez González (22”74).
The Jounin category, reserved for those over 16, had Teresa González Bravo as the female winner (44”70). The podium was completed by María del Carmen Rodríguez del Valle (53”93) and Patricia Quesada Sánchez-Palencia (1’04”61). In the male section, the champion was Cristian Rodríguez Neira with 26”05, followed by Daniel Mesa Pachón (26”93).
An event that refreshes the summer
The Sports Delegate, Manuel Calderón, was responsible for handing out diplomas and prizes to the winners. During the ceremony, Calderón highlighted the “high participation and excellent family atmosphere” that was experienced at the pool. “It is an activity designed for everyone, from the youngest to adults, to enjoy sports in a different and fun way,” he stated.
The initiative, which debuted last year with great acceptance, thus consolidates itself as one of the star events of the summer in Castilleja de la Cuesta. The municipal pool, located on Avenida de la Constitución, offers a wide range of aquatic and sports activities during the summer months. The next highlighted event will be the water polo tournament scheduled for the first week of August.
For those locals who missed it, the Town Hall announces that work is already underway for the third edition of Warrior Pool, which is expected to take place in July 2027. Meanwhile, the summer pool remains open from Monday to Sunday, from 12:00 to 20:00, with prices ranging from 1.5 euros (children) to 3 euros (adults). A refreshing and economical option to combat the heat of Aljarafe.
