The municipality is preparing for the XIV edition of the Night Urban Cross 'Luis Manuel Conejero Pontes', which will take place on Friday, October 2, at 21:00, covering 7,500 metres through the streets of the town.

The XIV edition of the Night Urban Cross 'Luis Manuel Conejero Pontes' has a date: it will be on Friday, October 2, 2026, starting at 21:00 from the Joaquín Rodríguez Morilla Football Stadium. The event, covering 7,500 metres, will run through the urban area of Castilleja de la Cuesta and will bring together runners from the entire Aljarafe region.

The official presentation took place at the Town Hall and was attended by the mayor, Carmen Herrera, along with María José Conejero, sister of the late athlete; two of his friends, María José Goncet and Manuel Jesús Gelo, and the Sports delegate, Manuel Calderón. The event served to announce the details of an occasion that each year pays tribute to a beloved local resident.

The route, which will start and finish at the municipal stadium, will traverse the main roads of the town. These include Avenida de la Unidad, Calle Doctor Fleming, Calle Real, Calle del Agua, Avenida Antonio Mairena, Avenida Plácido Fernández Viagas, Avenida Reina Mercedes, Calle Carmen Frías, Calle Alcalde Francisco Carrero, Calle Esteban Rosales, Calle Joaquín Romero Murube, Calle Virgen de Guía, Calle Manuel Rodríguez Navarro, Calle Manuel García Junco, Calle Enmedio, Plaza de Santiago, Calle Convento, and Cañada de los Negreros (Camino de la Valdovina), before returning to the stadium.

The event retains its night-time and urban character, allowing participants to run with the streets closed to traffic and under the illumination of streetlights. The organisation expects a turnout similar to previous years, with local athletes and those from nearby municipalities such as Tomares, San Juan de Aznalfarache, or Mairena del Aljarafe.

The cross is named after Luis Manuel Conejero Pontes, a local resident linked to sports who passed away years ago. The involvement of his family and friends in the organisation has been constant since the first edition, as highlighted by those present at the presentation.

The start is set for 21:00 on Friday, October 2. Those interested in participating can consult the rules and registration period on the municipal website or at the Sports Area offices of the Castilleja de la Cuesta Town Hall.
