Lora del Río works against the clock to restore drinking water this Friday

The Lora del Río Town Hall is distributing 8-litre bottles per household and expects to restore supply by late Friday.

The Lora del Río Town Hall has activated the Contingency Plan due to the supply cut since Thursday and is distributing 8-litre bottles per household at the Municipal Pavilion. The expectation is that water will return by late Friday if repairs at the Water Treatment Plant (ETAP) progress well.

The break in the pipes from the improvement works at the Water Treatment Plant (ETAP) has left the centre of Lora del Río without water since the early afternoon of Thursday, September 10. The Town Hall has mobilised all municipal resources to repair the pipeline and restore the supply.

The cut only affects the urban area of Lora del Río. The areas of El Priorato and Setefilla still have water as they are supplied from tanks using mechanical means.

Since Thursday, the Contingency Plan for supply cut has been in operation. The special device distributed an 8-litre bottle per household during Thursday, and new water trucks have arrived on Friday to continue the supply.

The distribution of bottles takes place at the Municipal Pavilion from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 21:00. The Town Hall is giving priority attention to the most vulnerable sectors and essential services such as the Health Centre, schools, and hospitality establishments.

“Work is being carried out tirelessly to restore the supply as soon as possible, and we have put all municipal resources at the service of this situation”

This was stated by the mayor of Lora del Río, Antonio Enamorado, who explained that the process requires different phases from when the water is captured in the reservoir until it reaches homes.

“The water has to reach the decanters, complete the purification and treatment process at the ETAP, and then be sent to the tanks to supply the homes; each of these phases requires at least two hours”

The municipal forecast, provided that the progress of the work is favourable, is that by late Friday, the supply of drinking water may begin to be progressively restored.

The Town Hall thanks the understanding, patience, and cooperation of the residents in the face of an unforeseen situation in which work is being done continuously to restore normality as quickly as possible.
