The 29th herald of the Glorious Dolores, Carlos Jiménez de Juan, delivered his proclamation last night in the parish of La Rinconada before a full temple. The event, presented by María del Carmen Baco, marked the countdown to September 15.
The parish of La Rinconada hosted last night the proclamation of the Glorious Dolores by Carlos Jiménez de Juan, thus becoming the 29th herald of these patron festivities. The event, presented by last year's herald, María del Carmen Baco, brought together devotees, brotherhood members, and representatives of the local brotherhoods.
Among the attendees were the mayor, Javier Fernández de los Ríos, along with the delegates of Major Festivities, Rafael Reyes and Silvia Torres. The parish priest, Luis María Hernández de Villota, who is experiencing these festivities for the first time, and friends of the herald also attended.
Jiménez de Juan structured his speech into three chapters: The Heritage, The Experiences, and The Devotion. In the first, he reminisced about his paternal grandparents, Carlitos and Carmelita, and the number 3 on Rosal Street, the epicentre of family memories. He also had words for his mother, Adeli, born in Burguillos, and for his wife, Aurora, and their three children, Aurora, Carlos, and Fernando.
“Dad, I hope to pass on to my children the same devotion for the Virgin that you have bequeathed to me”
The second chapter focused on the Rosario de la Aurora and the first time the herald encountered the Virgin at dawn on September 15. He recalled his connection with the Priostía and had words for José Ángel Navarro and his cousins Quique and Luis Navarro.

The third part addressed the broader dimension of devotion. The herald highlighted the role of women as “the first transmitters of sorrowful devotion” and emphasised the continuity of a centuries-old tradition in La Rinconada. He also acknowledged the work of the Brotherhood Choirs, which this year celebrate forty years since their founding in 1986.

The proclamation culminated with a reflection on the pains of life from his perspective as a doctor, paying special attention to the loss of a child, before leading into the procession. The final “I HAVE SAID” was met with a long applause.
“But your people do not cry, your people always await you, with the hope of those who know that September always comes!”
At the end of the event, the elder brother, Ramón Perza, the mayor, and the parish priest presented the herald with a keepsake from the day. Copies of the proclamation were also distributed among the brotherhoods, the parish, and the Town Hall.
Jiménez de Juan began writing the text on Easter Sunday, April 5, and finished it on August 15. The proclamation now opens the countdown to the feast of the Virgin of Sorrows, which is celebrated on September 15 with a solemn function and a procession through the streets of the town centre.
