The Afadi association has presented its ‘Inclusive Education’ project at the Town Hall of La Rinconada, aimed at educational centres in the municipality to promote empathy and respect for functional diversity.
The Primary Education delegate, Rafael Reyes, participated in the presentation of the ‘Inclusive Education with Afadi’ project at the local council, where representatives from the management teams of schools and institutes in the area gathered. The initiative, driven by the association that has been supporting people with functional diversity for over 50 years, offers a catalogue of activities tailored to each educational stage.
Activities for all stages
The programme includes participatory dynamics and workshops, as well as sports activities, treasure hunts, accessibility projects, and volunteering actions. It is designed for nursery schools, Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate, and vocational training, with the aim of raising awareness about the daily challenges faced by people with disabilities and generating spaces for reflection.
Rafael Reyes highlighted that “education plays a fundamental role as a tool for social transformation. Schools are not only spaces for academic learning but also places where values, attitudes, and ways of coexistence are built.” The councillor encouraged centres to join the initiative so that students “gain a greater understanding of the reality of people with disabilities.”
Support for families
Afadi also maintains a specific line of support and accompaniment for families, with workshops aimed at both relatives of people with functional diversity and the wider family community. These workshops address issues of interest related to education, inclusion, and well-being.
Educational centres in La Rinconada can select the activities that best suit their needs from Afadi's offerings. The project aims to break down prejudices and highlight diversity as an enriching element of the educational community. For more information, families and centres can contact the association directly.
