The nursery schools in Guillena have opened their doors with 198 students. The big news is the free education for 1-year-olds.
The 1st of September marked the start of the 2026-27 school year at the nursery schools in Guillena, Torre de la Reina, and Las Pajanosas with a total of 198 students enrolled. Although the little ones will not have their first school day until tomorrow Thursday, 3rd of September, the centres have already opened their doors to welcome families.
In the municipality, there are four nursery schools for children aged 0 to 2 years, three of which are municipal: El Trenecito, Torre de la Reina, and Las Pajanosas. The total offer is 316 places, and at the moment, there are vacancies in the three public centres.
The distribution of enrolments is as follows: 90 students in Guillena, 52 in Las Pajanosas, and 21 in Torre de la Reina. Additionally, the Pachín Educational Centre provides services with 35 places contracted with the Junta, all of which are filled.
During the month of September, children will undergo a gradual adaptation process, slowly increasing their time spent at the centres. For families in need, morning classroom and lunch services are already available.
The main novelty this year is that the Junta de Andalucía has established free socio-educational care for 1-year-olds, which adds to the provision that already existed from last year for 2-year-olds.
Families interested can formalise new enrolments for the current school year. Applications are collected and submitted from Monday to Friday in the morning until the 30th of October. They can also apply for discounts on morning classroom and lunch services at their chosen centre.
The First Cycle of Early Childhood Education is provided from Monday to Friday on all non-holiday days of the year, except August, in an uninterrupted schedule from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, extendable until 8:00 PM if the play workshop is offered. This measure aims to facilitate compatibility between work and family life.
