The Town Hall of Guillena has expressed its sorrow over the death of Candelaria Martínez Ortega, councillor from 1999 to 2003, who passed away on the same day as the tribute dinner for seniors that she organised for years.

The Town Hall of Guillena has conveyed its condolences for the passing of Candelaria Martínez Ortega, who was part of the Municipal Corporation as a councillor during the 1999-2003 legislature.

The news has hit the municipality particularly hard as the death occurred on the day of the traditional Guillena fair dinner in honour of seniors, an event she organised for many years as the delegate of the Seniors Area.

The Council wanted to remember her as a person who was “happy, talkative, committed to the carnival in her years, and participative”, according to the official statement released this Wednesday.

“Guillena loses today a person who is part of its recent history,” the Town Hall stated in a communiqué.

From the Corporation, they have sent their “affection and sincerest condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones” during this difficult time.

The wake will take place at the Guillena Funeral Home throughout this afternoon, and the funeral will be held tomorrow Thursday, September 4 at 11:00 AM at the Parish of Our Lady of Granada, according to municipal sources.
