The City Council of Seville launches this Tuesday the special device for the Velá de San Joaquín and Santa Ana, which will run until Sunday the 26th. As a new feature, the hours for the terrace bars are extended and the cultural and sports programme is reinforced.
The opening speech by historian Jesús Pozuelo at Altozano will kick off the Major Festival of Triana. This year's Velá, declared of tourist interest in Andalusia, includes special hours for the terraces: until 3:00 AM on the first days and until 4:00 AM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. On Sunday, the closing will be at 1:00 AM.
Cultural and sports programme
The salon bullfighting exhibition by the Tomás Campuzano Bullfighting School is one of the new features, taking place this Wednesday in San Jacinto. Additionally, the classic greased pole contest will be held at the zapata on Calle Betis, where participants will try to reach the soapy flag.
The fireworks on Sunday at 10:00 PM will provide the grand finale. On the same day, the distinctions will be awarded to the Trianeros de Honor, including guitarist Joselito Acedo, foreman Manuel Jesús Garduño Lara, and Cuchillería Castilla.
Recognitions and awards
The Trianeros of the Year are journalists José Antonio Rodríguez Benítez and Alejandra Navarro González. The Adoptive Trianeros are recognised as Jessica Brea Morillo, Sebas Amaya, and Lola de los Reyes. The Vicente Aleixandre Institute receives an institutional recognition, and Pipas Sevillanas is awarded the Business Trajectory award.
The Niculoso Pisano Award is granted to ceramist Jesús Alcarazo, and the Solidarity award goes to Hogar Nazaret. The Special Distinction for Artistic Trajectory is awarded to Cantores de Híspalis for their 50 years of career.
Mobility and traffic restrictions
From 5:00 PM on Tuesday until 6:00 AM on the 27th, the Special Mobility Plan will be active. The paving works on Calle Castilla affect traffic: San Jorge will go towards Antillano Campos and this street towards Pagés del Corro. The circulation of scooters and bicycles in the pedestrian area of the Velá is prohibited.
Two provisional taxi stands will be installed on Pagés del Corro (from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM) and the one on Calle Arjona will remain. Electric rental bicycles will not be allowed to park in the Betis area.

The official poster is created by artist María Tapia, an acrylic on linen measuring 64.5 x 81 cm. The piece presents a contemporary view of Triana with a fan as the central element, featuring the decorated bridge, the chapel of Carmen, the parish of Santa Ana, and the greased pole. The first stick of the fan appears separated, alluding to the soapy pole.
The hours for the booths will be from 8:00 PM to 3:00 AM (until 4:00 AM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). The terrace bars may use high tables without chairs on Betis, Altozano, San Jorge, and Callao, maintaining the authorised capacity. Those opting for tables with chairs must remove them by 9:00 PM.
The Velá, which this year celebrates its 76th edition, expects to gather thousands of Sevillians and tourists. The City Council recommends using public transport and respecting mobility restrictions to enjoy the festival safely.
