The Lime Museum of Morón de la Frontera kicks off the season with three workshops on traditional construction techniques, from September 23 to October 18.
The Lime Museum of Morón de la Frontera has presented its new training programme for this autumn, featuring three workshops that will be held from late September to mid-October. The proposals combine the museum's location in the Aldea Caleras de la Sierra with the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage (IAPH) in Seville, and are aimed at both professionals and enthusiasts interested in natural materials and heritage restoration.
The first event will be the third edition of the Practical Workshop on Earth Coatings: Formulation and Application, which will take place from September 23 to 25 at the IAPH in Seville. The training will be led by Rocío Merlos and will cover the preparation and use of earth coatings, a technique with a long tradition in vernacular architecture.
A week later, from September 30 to October 2, the 10th edition of the workshop 'The Architecture of Tapial: Traditional Construction Technique and Its Restoration' will be held, taught by Fermín Font. This established course delves into tapial, a technique based on earth as a structural material, and will also take place at the IAPH in Seville.
The programme will conclude on October 17 and 18 with a Practical Workshop on Formulation and Application of Tadelakt, led by José Calvente. This Moroccan-origin technique, linked to natural finishes, has gained interest in recent years among architects, designers, and restorers. The training will be held at the Lime Museum.
The programme reinforces the role of the Morón museum as a meeting point in the province for the dissemination of traditional construction and its application to heritage conservation. Interested parties can check dates, prices, and registrations on the museum's official channels.
