Coca Street, in the Santa María neighbourhood, is once again open to traffic from 14:00 hours after the improvement works. The Town Hall is also overseeing the comprehensive renovation of Picasso Street, with an investment of €200,000.
The Town Hall of Morón de la Frontera reopened Coca Street to vehicular traffic this Thursday in the Santa María neighbourhood, after completing the improvement works on the road. The reopening took place from 14:00 hours.
The works, carried out with the Town Hall's own resources as part of the urban improvement plan funded by the Seville Provincial Council, have allowed for the correction of the uneven pavement, the removal of architectural barriers, and the levelling of the sidewalks. The intervention particularly benefits elderly people and those with reduced mobility, who previously faced difficulties in transit.
The delegate for Works, Ignacio Cala, visited the street to check the results and gather feedback from residents, who expressed their gratitude for the improvements. During the visit, Cala also supervised the progress of the works on Picasso Street, a key road connecting Santa María with the town centre and the Rancho neighbourhood.
The renovation of Picasso Street, which had suffered significant deterioration, includes the renewal of the sewage system, the removal of asbestos cement pipes from the drinking water network, the channeling of telecommunications, the elimination of architectural barriers, and complete repaving. This project has an investment of €200,000 from the Agricultural Employment Promotion Programme 2025-2026, as part of a total package of nearly €3 million for urban improvements in Morón before the end of the year.
These works are part of the municipal accessibility plan, which has already intervened in streets such as Las Cabezas, various areas of the centre, and Ánimas Street. The Town Hall plans to carry out seven new interventions before the end of the year and continue the plan in 2027 with an investment of €2 million.
The goal is to "achieve an accessible Morón, with quality public spaces that all citizens can enjoy and feel proud of," stated Ignacio Cala.
Residents of the area can now use Coca Street normally, while Picasso Street will remain under construction for the coming weeks. The Town Hall reminds that these actions aim to improve mobility and quality of life in the municipality.
