The Estepa fairground hosted the Harness Contest of the 2026 Fair on Saturday, awarding prizes for carriages, riders, and amazons. The Equestrian Club organised the event, which saw a large participation from children.
The Estepa fairground celebrated a new edition of the Harness Contest of the 2026 Fair on Saturday, an event that brought together riders, amazons, and carriages of various styles. The organisation was led by the Equestrian Club, whose president is Manuel Capitán.
The presentation of the event was handled by María Celia Borrego, while Pepe Fuentes Montaño served as a technical advisor and was part of the jury. Throughout the day, various saddles and carriages were showcased, with a special focus on the youngest participants.
The awards were presented by the mayor of Estepa, Antonio Jesús Muñoz, the councillor for Culture, Ascensión Castillo, and the councillor for Festivities, Manuel Rodríguez.
In the carriage category, the award for best Andalusian carriage went to Miguel Ángel Fernández Marín; the best English carriage was awarded to Álvaro Laguna; and the best calesera carriage went to José Ruiz.
Among the adults, the recognitions went to José Carlos Muñoz Alfaro (best rider with fringes), Sara Carrasco (best amazona on a horn saddle), Manuel Guerra Rico (best rider with chaps), Cristina Fernández (best amazona astride), and the pair formed by Curro Torres and María Saavedra (best dressed pair).
Child participation was numerous, with names such as Salvador Castellano, Diego Baena, Rafa Maldonado, Álvaro Alés, José Ramón Montaño, Ángela Giráldez, Felipe Barrionuevo, Alberto Alés, Manuel Acuña, Manuel Ruiz, Alberto Acuña, Valentina Cabello, Amador Rueda, María Remedios Caro, Manuel Capitán, Curro Barrionuevo, and Javier Ortega.
With this contest, the Estepa Fair once again highlights the equestrian tradition and the care for attire and harnesses, one of the characteristic elements of the celebration. The event serves as an additional incentive for locals and visitors who are exploring the fairground these days.
