The Utrera City Council and Ecoembes are launching an awareness campaign to improve waste separation. It starts this Tuesday at the municipal pool with games for all ages.
The Utrera City Council, through the Department of Street Cleaning and Urban Solid Waste Collection, and Ecoembes have launched the campaign "Recycling is caring for our own", an initiative aimed at involving all citizens in waste separation at source and in the circular economy.
The first phase will begin this Tuesday, August 4, at the Utrera municipal pool with the activity "Dive into recycling", which will run from 16:30 to 19:30. The events will continue on Wednesday 5 at the Trajano pool, Thursday 6 at Guadalema de los Quintero, Friday 7 at Pinzón, and Saturday 8 back at the municipal pool.
Two environmental educators will lead each session with activities such as the Statue Race, Recycling Party, Marine Rescue, Recycling Bingo, Recycling War, and the game How long does it take to disappear?. Through these challenges, participants will learn to identify and correctly classify waste and understand how long materials like plastic or glass take to decompose.
Those who participate will receive a card that they will complete during the activities, and at the end, they will be gifted t-shirts and fans made from recycled RPET material, a practical gesture to bring the concept of circularity closer.
Second phase in adult centres
The campaign will have a second phase during October, aimed at users of the adult centres in Utrera and its districts. The sessions will combine informative talks with participatory activities and will begin on October 19 at the CEPER of Utrera, continuing at the Pensioners' Home and other local centres.
Among the topics to be addressed in both phases are the seven "R" rule, the functioning of different containers, the waste that should be deposited in each one, and the responsible use of the Clean Point of Utrera. The concept of the circular economy will also be worked on, based on reducing the consumption of raw materials and extending the useful life of products through prevention, reuse, repair, and recycling.
With this initiative, the Utrera council aims to move towards a cleaner and more sustainable city, raising awareness among residents about the importance of keeping public roads and green areas free of waste. Families wishing to participate in the pool activities can go directly at the established times, without prior registration.
