The Town Hall of Lebrija and Ecovidrio are delivering over 60 wheeled bins to the 40 booths at the Fair to facilitate glass separation. The campaign aims to surpass last year's recycling figures.
The Town Hall of Lebrija, through the Environmental Delegation, and Ecovidrio have launched a special glass recycling campaign for the Lebrija Fair. The initiative, presented by the Environmental Delegate, Teresa Serrano; the Festivities Delegate, Alberto Pérez; and the Ecovidrio coordinator for the western area, Juanjo Zabala, is primarily aimed at the hospitality establishments within the fairgrounds.
The plan includes the free distribution of more than 60 wheeled bins among the 40 booths at the Fair, so that hospitality providers can properly separate the glass containers generated during their activities. Additionally, more than ten containers specifically adapted for the hospitality sector have been installed, allowing for quicker and more convenient emptying of the bins without the need to deposit bottles one by one.
Teresa Serrano highlighted that a significant amount of glass waste is generated during the Fair and called on booth managers to actively collaborate. The delegate emphasized that proper waste separation is an opportunity for the celebration to be compatible with environmental care.
“Proper waste separation presents an opportunity for the Fair's celebration to also be compatible with environmental care,” noted Teresa Serrano.
Serrano also encouraged booth managers to engage in the separation not only of glass but also of other waste such as paper and cardboard, extending this commitment to the entire community throughout the year.
For his part, Juanjo Zabala thanked the Town Hall for its collaboration and the involvement of hospitality providers, explaining that the bins are being distributed free of charge among the booths. Simultaneously, information is being provided to hospitality providers about how the campaign works and the necessity of proper separation and recycling of glass containers.
“The goal is to surpass the recycling figures achieved the previous year and to make the Fair a benchmark in sustainability,” stated Juanjo Zabala.
The Ecovidrio coordinator also focused on the role of the booths themselves, encouraging them to become examples of best practices and to contribute to keeping the fairgrounds cleaner throughout the celebration. With this campaign, the Town Hall and Ecovidrio aim to establish a cleaner and more sustainable Fair, involving both hospitality providers and the rest of the community in recycling.
