The parish of Santa Ana will host the Gozos at midnight on Saturday, July 25, with a performance by the Cristo de las Tres Caídas band and the ringing of bells.
The Triana neighbourhood is preparing to experience one of its most emotional events of the year: the Santa Ana festival, patron saint of the district. The events will begin at midnight on Saturday, July 25, with the celebration of the traditional Gozos, an event that each year gathers hundreds of faithful and locals at the parish named after the saint.
At 23:30, the Cristo de las Tres Caídas band, linked to the Esperanza de Triana brotherhood, will depart from the Marineros chapel, the headquarters of the corporation, heading towards the Mudejar tower of the parish temple. Once there, the musicians will perform the well-known "Nanas de la Señora Santa Ana," a composition that traditionally announces the imminent arrival of the festival.
After the musical performance, the bells of the tower will ring out as the bell tower is illuminated with coloured lights, breaking the darkness that enveloped it during the event. This moment is one of the most anticipated by attendees, who each year crowd the surroundings of the parish.
Once the ringing has concluded, the doors of the temple will open and the musical ensemble will perform the songs dedicated to Santa Ana again inside, where the faithful will join in the singing. The atmosphere of reverence and devotion marks the beginning of the celebration.
Next, the brother Juan Carlos Gallardo Ruiz will deliver a brief greeting to the patron saint of Triana. After his words, a floral offering of tuberoses and pots of basil will be made, after which the image of Santa Ana will be displayed for veneration in a devotional kissing of the saint.
The religious activities will continue on Saturday, July 26, the liturgical feast of Santa Ana, with the celebration of the Eucharist on the last day of the novena at 20:30. This solemn mass will be presided over by the parish priest Manuel Soria Campos. At the end of the Eucharist, the traditional cloister procession will take place inside the temple.
The Santa Ana festival is one of the most deeply rooted in Triana, where devotion to Jesus' grandmother remains alive through these events that combine music, flowers, and popular piety.
