The Board of Trustees of the Real Alcázar approves the elimination of the Chief Worker position and the creation of a Gardening Officer role, along with a Public Employment Offer for 2026 that stabilises temporary staff.
The Board of Trustees of the Real Alcázar of Seville and the Town Hall, met this Thursday under the direction of the monument's managing director, Ana Jáuregui, has given the green light to a partial modification of the Job Relationship (RPT) and the Staff Template of the Board. The agreement, which must be ratified by the Governing Board and the Plenary of the Seville City Council, also includes the Public Employment Offer for the 2026 fiscal year.
The most notable measure is the elimination of the Chief Worker position, whose functions have become outdated, and the creation in its place of a Gardening Officer role. According to sources from the Board, this replacement responds to the evolving needs of the monument, declared a World Heritage Site, and will allow for more effective management of the conservation tasks of its historic gardens.
The delegate for Finance and vice president of the Board, Juan Bueno, defended the reorganisation as a necessary step to adapt the structure of the Real Alcázar to current realities. "This is a responsible reorganisation that allows for a more efficient workforce, better suited to the needs of the Real Alcázar and prepared to face the management and conservation challenges of one of our country's main heritage references," he stated.
The Public Employment Offer for 2026 includes the coverage of a vacancy due to retirement and, above all, a step forward in the stabilisation of temporary staff. Several positions will be called in the areas of Activities, Administration, Maintenance, and Surveillance, in addition to a fixed maintenance worker position. This measure aims to consolidate teams and provide greater job stability for the Board's workers.
Bueno insisted that the stabilisation benefits both employees and the organisation itself, as it "allows for team consolidation, improves organisation, and continues to provide a high-quality public service in a heritage space of international reference." From the Government of José Luis Sanz, he added, a "decisive policy to improve the working conditions of municipal staff and the Real Alcázar" is being promoted.
The agreements adopted by the Board must now be submitted to the Governing Board and the Plenary of the Seville City Council for final approval. If confirmed, the new staff structure will be operational throughout the next fiscal year.
