The City Council of Sevilla has scheduled baroque, jazz and root music concerts, along with guided tours, from July 30 to August 5. Highlights include cycles at the Palacio Marqueses de la Algaba and the Real Alcázar.
The cultural agenda of Sevilla for the week of July 30 to August 5 is packed with proposals that combine heritage with live music. The City Council, through the Tourism and Culture Department, has confirmed a programme that focuses on the city's historic venues as a backdrop.
“We want to offer weekly proposals that bring culture closer to all audiences and allow enjoyment of heritage through new experiences,” says Angie Moreno, delegate for Tourism and Culture.
The Palacio Marqueses de la Algaba hosts the eleventh edition of Noches de Verano, a cycle that transforms its Mudejar courtyard into an outdoor stage. Concerts will start at 21:30 hours and entry will be free with prior reservation until full capacity is reached.
Invitations can be reserved weekly, from Monday to Thursday starting at 10:00 hours, through the municipal website. Each person can obtain a maximum of two tickets per concert.
The programme kicks off on Thursday, July 30, with Johanna Rose and Javier Núñez, who will perform baroque music for viola da gamba and harpsichord. On Tuesday, August 4, it will be the turn of Padilla Siblings and Van Moustache, featuring hot jazz and jazz manouche from the 1920s and 30s. On Wednesday, August 5, Zemer will offer a concert of Sephardic music.
In parallel, the Real Alcázar celebrates the XXVII edition of Noches en los Jardines del Real Alcázar, which will programme 63 concerts until September 19 in the Garden of the Cenador de la Alcoba. Performances will begin at 22:30 hours and tickets are available on the Actidea website.
This week features highlights such as Rusted (July 30, electro folk), Manuel Imán (July 31, crooner), Axabeba Dúo (August 1, the cultural legacy of Averroes), Esther Merino (August 4, Re(e)volution intimate) and Kid Carlos Trío (August 5, blues).
In addition to music, the week offers guided tours of the Real Fábrica de Artillería on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 hours, featuring exhibitions Hierve el huerto, ¡oh, oh! by Irene Infantes and Te dormirás y soñarás con la canción de las flores by Raquel Algaba. Related workshops will be held at 11:30 hours.
On Friday, at 10:00 hours, the exhibition Masterpieces of Sevillian Painting can be visited in the Lower Chapter Hall of the City Council. Until July 30, the exhibition History and Culture of the Gypsy People remains open at the Cultural Factory, with free entry.
The visits and workshops are free and require prior registration through the forms provided by the Tourism and Culture Department. An opportunity to enjoy Sevillian heritage with cultural proposals for all audiences.
