Madrid and Barcelona lead, but Seville closes the top 3 of the most requested hotel destinations for July and August, according to the comparator Check24. The capital of Seville is consolidating its status as a reference for national tourism.
The capital of Seville has made it onto the podium of the most coveted destinations for Spaniards for summer holidays. According to data from the hotel comparator Check24, Seville ranks third in the hotel booking ranking for the months of July and August, only behind Madrid and Barcelona.
The report, which analyses booking trends among Spanish users, positions the Andalusian city as a magnet for national tourism. The list is completed by Valencia, Salou, Benidorm, Málaga, Zaragoza, Granada, and León, demonstrating a mix of preferences between large cities and coastal destinations.
National tourism still in the spotlight
Although 75% of bookings for the summer months are concentrated within Spanish territory, the remaining 25% opts to travel abroad. Among the favourite international destinations for Spaniards are Portugal, France, and Italy, neighbouring countries that offer proximity and good connections.
For the Sevillian traveller, this trend presents an opportunity: the city not only receives visitors from all over Spain but also becomes a starting point for other countries. Those who prefer to stay will find a cultural and gastronomic offer that continues to attract thousands of tourists every summer.
Planning versus spontaneity
Check24 has also analysed the booking habits of Spaniards. On average, bookings for July and August are made one month in advance, indicating relatively early planning. However, spontaneity also has its place: almost three out of ten bookings are made during the week prior to arrival, and 8% are formalised on the same day of entry.
This duality benefits destinations like Seville, where the hotel offer is varied and allows for both advance and last-minute bookings. However, those who want to ensure accommodation in the historic centre would do well not to leave it until the last moment.
"Summer remains one of the key moments for travel, and the data reflects a great diversity of preferences: from those opting for national destinations to those taking the opportunity to travel abroad, and from those planning weeks or even months in advance to those deciding at the last moment," explained a spokesperson for Check24 Spain.
For the local tourist, the news has a double edge: the city will be busier than ever, but it will also be overflowing with activity. Tapas bars, monuments, and terraces in the centre will once again be the backdrop for thousands of visitors seeking the sun and charm of Seville.
In any case, Check24's data confirms that the Andalusian capital remains a safe bet for national tourism. And with the forecast of high temperatures, who knows if it will climb positions in upcoming rankings.
