Seville City Council has launched a support irrigation campaign for the 607 trees planted in the Bellavista-La Palmera district, with a system that distributes 75,000 litres of water per week.
The Seville City Council has activated a reinforcement irrigation campaign for the trees in the Bellavista-La Palmera district, focused on the 607 trees added in the last two municipal campaigns in empty tree pits on public roads. The operation also attends to those specimens showing signs of water stress due to high temperatures.
To this end, the Service of Parks and Gardens has a water tanker truck with a capacity of 5,000 litres, which makes three daily loads and allows for the delivery of 15,000 litres each day. The system operates from Monday to Friday and distributes 75,000 litres weekly to support the establishment of the new plantings.
The tree delegate, Evelia Rincón, explained that each tree requires continuous monitoring during its first years to ensure its development. "The work carried out daily by the municipal teams is crucial for today’s plantings to become tomorrow’s green heritage," she stated.
Irrigation begins from the moment of planting. The last municipal campaign started in mid-November 2025 and ended in March 2026. During that period, periodic water contributions are made until the arrival of rains, and then, with the increase in temperatures, the reinforcement campaign is activated, which remains active until October.
In addition to the new plantings, the operation adjusts irrigation based on the needs detected by municipal technicians in trees experiencing water stress. Rincón emphasized that "a greener city is also built with constant and planned maintenance" and that these actions "ensure that it can provide shade, comfort, and environmental benefits to residents for many years."
With this campaign, the City Council reinforces the green infrastructure of the district through efficient water management and maintenance tailored to the needs of the trees.
