The City Council of Seville has welcomed 28 new officers of the Local Police in an event at the Salón Colón. The mayor, José Luis Sanz, reminded that the goal is to incorporate 220 personnel between 2025 and 2027.

A total of 28 new officers took possession this Friday at the Salón Colón of the City Council of Seville, joining the Local Police force. The mayor, José Luis Sanz, presided over the event and highlighted that these incorporations are part of a more ambitious plan: to reach 220 officers in the period 2025-2027.

37% of the target already covered

With these 28 officers, the City Council has already covered 37% of the planned positions. They join the 18 officers who were incorporated in February, the 12 mobility officers who started in early 2025, and the 53 officers who joined last September. Additionally, there are more officers in training who will take up their positions before the end of the year.

The mayor emphasized that his priority is to “provide the Local Police force with more personnel, but not only that: work is also being done to improve their conditions and resources.” In this regard, he announced that the regulations and the Job Relationship and Valuation are being updated, as the current one is considered “obsolete” and does not meet the current needs of the city.

Improvements in police stations and vehicles

The local government is also promoting improvements at the headquarters of the Local Police. The relocation of the Triana-Los Remedios police station to the former Altadis factory has been announced, and the Macarena station to the Hogar Virgen de los Reyes. These actions aim to bring the service closer to residents and provide better facilities for the officers.

Regarding the fleet of vehicles, Sanz positively assessed the investment of 13 million euros to renew 149 police vehicles —including cars and vans— which means 21 more vehicles than before. All of them are equipped with defibrillators, equipment that can be vital in emergencies.

For the people of Seville, these measures translate into a greater police presence on the streets and a quicker response to any incident. The expectation is that, once the plan is completed, the force will reach an optimal level to meet the security demands of the capital of Seville.
