Seville City Council, through the Urban Planning Management, will carry out 28 improvement works on roads and public spaces in eight districts, with a total budget of 2.2 million euros. The works include repaving of roadways and sidewalks.
The Urban Planning Management of Seville City Council has launched a package of 28 actions to renew streets and public spaces in eight districts of the capital, with a total investment of 2.2 million euros. Most of the work will consist of repaving roadways and sidewalks, and will be carried out in coordination with the affected districts.
The works are distributed across Los Remedios, Casco Antiguo, Bellavista-La Palmera, Triana, Nervión, San Pablo-Santa Justa, Este-Alcosa-Torreblanca, Norte, and Macarena. The Urban Planning delegate, Juan de la Rosa, has emphasised that these interventions aim to improve safety and accessibility: “Repaving roadways that have been neglected for years and renewing sidewalks is not just an aesthetic issue, it is a matter of safety,” he stated.
The Este-Alcosa-Torreblanca district concentrates the largest number of actions, with works on eight streets and an investment of 600,531 euros. The roadways Fernanda Calado Rosales, Flor de Retama, Flor de Papel, Taiwan, Flor de Albahaca, and the second phase of the repaving of Avenida República de China will be repaved. Additionally, sidewalks will be constructed on the streets Éufrates and Flor de Albahaca.
In the Macarena district, six repavings will be carried out on the streets Santa María del Rocío, Santa María Magdalena, Santa María de la Hiedra, Santa María de los Reyes, Santa María de Ordás, Fray Luis de Granada, and Amalia Torrijos, with a total cost of 257,000 euros. Meanwhile, Nervión will have two repavings on Luis Montoto and Marqués de Pickman, plus the complete renewal of Calle Clemente Hidalgo, which includes addressing a subsidence issue, repairing the bike lane, and repaving the entire roadway.
In San Pablo-Santa Justa, work will be done in the residential area of Santa Justa and in Plaza del Niño de Vallecas, with a combined budget of 282,000 euros. In Los Remedios, Calle Virgen de la Fuensanta will be repaved (63,370 euros, already in progress), while in Triana, the Santo Ángel de la Guarda neighbourhood will be repaved, and work will take place on López de Gomara, Ronda de Triana, and San Martín de Porres.
Casco Antiguo will see Calle Sol converted into a single platform between numbers 9 and 19, at a cost of 29,080 euros. In Bellavista-La Palmera, the ramp on Calle Cronos will be adapted to regulations, and a 23.8-metre handrail will be installed. In the Norte district, Calle Alejandro Sawa will be repaved (82,000 euros) and Calle Medina y Galnares will receive a budget of 380,000 euros.
These actions are part of a municipal plan to improve the condition of roads and public spaces in the city, with special attention to the most deteriorated areas. Residents of the affected streets will notice an improvement in road and pedestrian safety, as well as accessibility, as highlighted by the Urban Planning delegate.
The works will be carried out in stages over the coming months, prioritising those with the greatest deterioration. The City Council has announced that traffic disruptions and alternative mobility options will be communicated as the work progresses, to minimise inconvenience to residents and drivers.
