The Government Council of the Municipal Sports Institute has given the green light to the Strategic Grant Plan for the next three years, complying for the first time with the General Grant Law.
The Municipal Sports Institute (IMD) of the Seville City Council approved this Wednesday its first Strategic Grant Plan, which will cover the period 2026-2028. The measure, adopted by the Council of Government of the body, responds for the first time to the requirements established in the General Grant Law of the State, according to municipal sources.
The Sports Delegate of the Seville City Council, María Tena, expressed her satisfaction following the approval of the plan, which she considers key to “optimising the management of public resources, strengthening the work of technicians, and facilitating the achievement of the objectives and strategic lines outlined in it.”
The plan is part of a broader line of work that the IMD has been developing to organise sports in the Andalusian capital. Among other actions, the institute has promoted the organisation of the calendar of races and events on urban roads, the approval of a protocol for weather alerts, and the application of unified criteria for the reservation and rental of facilities.
As Tena explained, the plan is based on objectives that the City Council considers “essential” for a municipal body: to promote sports practice and physical exercise in all sectors of the population, to promote gender equality and inclusion through sport, to support the organisation of events, to promote training and sports specialisation, and to facilitate the improvement and sustainability of facilities.
“A correct policy and management of grants is key to achieving these objectives, and this Strategic Plan lays the foundations to achieve it,” the delegate added.
To cover all the support actions of the IMD, the plan includes four major lines of grants. The first, in competitive concurrence, is aimed at clubs and sports entities to support their participation in competitions, the organisation of activities and events, municipal sports schools, high-level competition teams, and Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
The second line, in non-competitive concurrence, is intended for elite Seville clubs. The third corresponds to collaboration agreements, which encompass the catalogue of activities and major sports events held in the city throughout the year with the support of the City Council through the IMD. Finally, the fourth line consists of nominative grants, aimed at clubs competing in top-level leagues.
Following the approval of this plan, each line of grant will have its own regulatory bases. These will establish the requirements, evaluation criteria, maximum amounts, required documentation, and justification procedures, ensuring in all cases the principles of publicity, transparency, objectivity, equality, and non-discrimination, in accordance with current regulations.
For the clubs and sports entities of Seville, this plan represents a stable reference framework for the next three years, allowing them to plan their activities and competitions with greater legal and financial security.
