The sporting management of Sevilla FC has focused on Marc Guiu as the priority option to bolster the attack for the upcoming season. The 19-year-old forward, who belongs to Chelsea, is not getting minutes in London, and the Seville club is exploring a loan with an option to buy or shared wages.
According to sources close to the negotiation, Sevilla has already initiated contact with the player's camp and with Chelsea to probe the conditions of a possible exit. The technical secretariat led by José Ignacio Navarro considers Guiu an ideal profile due to his youth, goal-scoring ability, and knowledge of LaLiga following his time at FC Barcelona.
Coach Luis García Plaza has conveyed to the management the need to incorporate two forwards, and Guiu would be one of them. Currently, the only pure '9' in the squad is Isaac Romero, so the club is looking for at least one reliable reinforcement to face the league start, scheduled for August 15 against Rayo Vallecano.
Marc Guiu joined Chelsea last summer from Barcelona, which received 6 million euros for his transfer. In his first season in England, the young striker has played 16 matches in the UEFA Conference League, scoring 6 goals. However, he has had few opportunities in the Premier League, opening the door for a temporary exit.
Chelsea, for its part, values the player at around 30 million euros, a figure that Sevilla considers unaffordable. Therefore, the loan formula with part of the salary shared is the most appealing option in Nervión. Additionally, the Seville club could include a non-mandatory purchase option, allowing the player to increase his value in Spanish football.
The operation, however, will not be straightforward. Interest in Guiu is high both in Spain and England. In LaLiga, Real Sociedad and Valencia CF are closely monitoring his situation, while in the Premier League, teams like Sunderland, Ipswich Town, and Coventry City have also inquired about him. Sevilla will have to compete with all of them to secure the forward's services.
The club remains optimistic but cautious. The technical secretariat is working in parallel on other options in case the Guiu route becomes complicated, although the young Catalan is the number one choice. The intention is to close the operation before the start of pre-season so that Luis García Plaza can count on him from day one.
