Sevilla FC is considering the signing of left-back Mario Climent and midfielder Moussa Diakité, both from Cádiz CF, as future investments to rejuvenate the squad.

The sporting management of Sevilla FC has set its sights on two players from Cádiz CF who fit into the new recruitment policy of the Nervión club: left-back Mario Climent and midfielder Moussa Diakité. Both are young, have long contracts, and an affordable cost, making them strategic targets to reinforce the squad without inflating expenses.

Mario Climent, the in-form left-back in Segunda

Mario Climent, aged 24, joined Cádiz in January 2025 from Mérida for around €100,000 and signed until 2028. His quick adaptation and physical presence on the left flank have caught Sevilla's attention, which is looking for competition in that position. The Cádiz player has shown energy to cover the wing, join the attack, and still has room for defensive improvement.

Cádiz CF is not in a hurry to sell, but an attractive offer could open the door if Climent wants to make the leap to Primera. For Sevilla, the operation makes sense in terms of age and potential: he is a full-back trained in the lower categories, already adapted to professional football and far from his ceiling. Monitoring is ongoing, although there is currently no formal offer or agreement between clubs.

Moussa Diakité, muscle for the midfield

The second target is Moussa Diakité, a Malian midfielder aged 22 with a contract until 2029. In the last season, he accumulated 36 matches in Segunda (29 as a starter), confirming his growth in a key area. His physique, ability to cover ground, and aggression in recovery make him an attractive profile for a Sevilla side that needs energy in midfield.

Diakité, an international for Mali, still needs to improve with the ball and in decision-making, but his performance has not gone unnoticed. Queens Park Rangers is also monitoring him, which could raise his price if concrete offers emerge this summer. Sevilla values his power and ability to maintain pace in open matches.

Two operations with sporting and economic logic

The dual monitoring reflects the type of market Sevilla wants to explore: young talent, with experience in Spanish football, long contracts, and potential for appreciation. This requires negotiating patiently, but it reduces the risk of adaptation. Cádiz CF will protect its assets and will not facilitate exits without appropriate compensation.

For Sevilla fans, these operations represent a change in direction: investments in emerging players instead of big names. If successful, the club would gain depth in two key positions without compromising the budget. However, it will be necessary to wait for the market to move. For now, Sevilla is observing, analysing, and preparing its cards.
