Sevilla FC will play on Sunday in Krakow for the 120th anniversary match of KS Cracovia. Before that, they must resolve negotiations for Akor Adams, who is training with the group, and Tanguy Nianzou, whose transfer to Lille is not finalised.
The Sevilla FC continues its preparations for the 2026-27 season. This Thursday, the squad completed its sixth weekly session at the José Ramón Cisneros Palacios Sports City, including a double training session. The main news was the presence of Akor Adams, who continues to train with the group while his future is being resolved.
The Nigerian forward is at the centre of negotiations between Sevilla and Venezia. Sporting director José Ignacio Navarro confirmed on Wednesday that talks are ongoing:
“We are in open negotiations with two clubs, until it is made official anything can happen.”
Trip to Poland and injured players
The Sevilla expedition will depart this Saturday for Krakow to face KS Cracovia on Sunday, July 19, in a commemorative match for the 120th anniversary of the Polish club. The match will take place at 16:00 hours, and the team will return to Sevilla on Monday, July 20. This will be the second pre-season test for Luis García Plaza's side.
For this trip, the coach may have a long list of injured players. This Thursday, five players —José Ángel Carmona, Juanlu Sánchez, Peque Fernández, Ramón Martínez Castrín, and Alfon González— were present at the initial tactical talk but did not participate in the work on the pitch. José Ángel Carmona did specific work in the gym due to a bruise, although his return to the group is expected this Friday.
Marcao progresses in recovery
Another good piece of news for Sevilla is the progress of Marcao. The Brazilian centre-back took another step in his recovery process by doing specific work on the pitch, although still in an individualised manner. His return to group training is approaching, which would ease Luis García Plaza's defensive options.
The session began with a tactical talk from the coach, who then directed the fieldwork. Rafa Mir was also absent, as he trains separately while seeking an exit. The club hopes to finalise several operations in the coming days to lighten the squad.
Nianzou's future up in the air
Another pending issue is the departure of Tanguy Nianzou. The French defender has permission from Sevilla to negotiate with Lille, but the agreement has not yet been finalised. Navarro explained:
“Regarding Nianzou, whether it is a transfer or contract termination, we will see if it materialises or not.”
Meanwhile, the player has not trained with the group, and his future remains unresolved. Sevilla is looking to offload players who are not in García Plaza's plans to make room for new signings. The transfer market remains open, and the Nervionense club is working in several directions.
For Sevilla fans, the pre-season progresses with uncertainty about what the final squad will look like. Sunday’s match will serve to see minutes from the players who remain and for the coach to continue shaping the starting eleven ahead of the LaLiga start.
