The Seville cycle approaches its final stretch with five concerts between September 8 and 12. Paris, the figure of Manuel de Falla, and the dialogue between genres mark the programming.
The 27th edition of Nights in the Gardens of the Real Alcázar of Seville enters its final stretch with a new week focused on music and the connections between eras and cultures. Five concerts, scheduled from September 8 to 12, will highlight the influence of Paris on European music and the figure of Manuel de Falla.
The twelfth week of the cycle brings together artists from different generations and backgrounds, with programs ranging from rock to roots and bolero, alongside classical repertoire. Tickets, at a flat price of 7 euros, are already available on the official activity website.
On Tuesday September 8, Pájaro Guitar Duo, formed by Andrés Herrera “El Pájaro” and Raúl Fernández, will perform. They will present «Las Criaturas», a concert for two guitars and voice that combines original compositions with covers of songs linked to their career, influenced by rock, surf, and Italian swing.
Both musicians have been sharing the stage for nearly three decades and have collaborated with artists such as Pata Negra, Raimundo Amador, Silvio, and El Lebrijano. In 2012, they launched the project «Pájaro».
On Wednesday September 9, it will be the turn of Graci Rodríguez and Manuel Soto “Noly”, who present «The field has no key; roots and dreams of freedom». The concert unites flamenco, Andalusian rock, and singer-songwriter styles based on their latest work, «My throat and your rhythm», and includes a tribute to groups like Triana, Alameda, Cai, and Medina Azahara.
On Thursday September 10, violinist Adrián Fernández and pianist Pepe Fernández will offer «Echoes of Paris», featuring works by Pablo Sarasate, George Enescu, and Maurice Ravel. The program explores the period when the French capital became one of the major musical centres in Europe.
Adrián Fernández, recipient of the Extraordinary End of Studies Award and trained at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, joins Pepe Fernández, a musician with extensive experience, in a dialogue of virtuosity and sensitivity.
On Friday September 11, Gamaga Trío will present «Ciudad Bolero», a look at the Latin American repertoire brought into jazz and improvisation. Juana Gaitán (guitar and voice), Javier Galiana (piano), and Gal Maestro (double bass) reinterpret great bolero melodies with new arrangements.
On Saturday September 12, the week will close with flautist Vicent Morelló and pianist Tommaso Cogato presenting «Falla in Paris». The program recalls the composer’s stay in the French capital from 1907, where he connected with Debussy, Ravel, and Dukas, and combines works by Falla with pieces from that environment.
Morelló, principal flautist of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, and Cogato, an internationally renowned pianist, have been playing together for over sixteen years.
With these concerts, the Seville cycle faces its penultimate week, leaving only one more to close this year’s edition.
