Agents from the GAR and the Diana Group of the Seville Local Police prevented a gender-based attack this Monday in the East area. The arrested man was carrying two knives, an axe, and a pick on his motorcycle.
The Seville Local Police have arrested a man with a lengthy criminal record for serious threats and breaching a restraining order, after he attempted to access his ex-partner's home with the intention of assaulting her. The intervention took place on Monday, August 3, in the East area of the Andalusian capital.
The operation was activated when the Diana Group, a unit specialized in gender violence, received a call from the victim, who reported having received death threats from her ex-partner, who was riding a white motorcycle. Agents from the Support and Reaction Group (GAR) were deployed as urgent reinforcements and located the suspect as he was heading to the victim's home, at which point he was identified and arrested.
During the search of the motorcycle, the agents found two knives, an axe, and a pick hidden inside the vehicle. The man, who has a lengthy criminal history, was arrested for serious threats and for breaching the restraining order against him.
The GAR operation extended throughout the day across the East-Alcosa-Torreblanca and Cerro-Amate districts, resulting in three arrests in total: the alleged male aggressor and two other individuals with outstanding judicial claims. Additionally, the agents identified 65 people, inspected 15 vehicles, and issued five reports for possession or consumption of narcotic substances.
The Support and Reaction Group of the Seville Local Police has been operating since last March as a tactical support unit. It is composed of 35 agents selected through a rigorous process and subjected to continuous training, based at Calle Calatrava. The creation of the GAR represents a significant improvement in citizen service and the achievement of a long-standing request from the police force.
The rapid coordination between the Diana Group and the GAR was key to preventing the imminent assault. The victim has already been attended to, and the usual protection protocols in such cases have been activated.
