The 21-year-old left-back arrives from Atlético de Madrid following an agreement between clubs. The player will travel to Sevilla this Tuesday to sign his contract.
Sevilla FC has finalised the signing of Julio Díaz, left-back from Atlético de Madrid, in a deal that has accelerated in recent hours. The 21-year-old footballer will travel tomorrow, July 28, 2026, to the Andalusian capital to sign his new contract, as reported by journalist Gonzalo Tortosa.
The agreement between both entities is complete, and only the player's signature is needed for him to become a new member of the Sevilla squad. The Seville club will pay one million euros fixed plus half a million in variables, meaning the total cost could reach 1.5 million euros. In return, Sevilla acquires 50% of the player's economic rights, while Atlético Madrid retains the other 50%, a common formula in loans of promising youth players.
The contract will be for four seasons, demonstrating the Nervionense club's commitment to a young player with professional football experience. Díaz, who trained for eight years in the rojiblanco academy, made his debut with Diego Simeone's first team in the 2025/26 season. In total, he played four official matches, all as a starter, accumulating 311 minutes and providing one assist precisely at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Additionally, he was a key player for Atlético Madrileño in Primera RFEF and has been an international at various youth levels for the Spanish national team.
Sevilla's interest in Díaz was not new. The player had a preliminary agreement with Levante, but the emergence of the Seville team, with better sporting and financial conditions, led the left-back to change his plans. This Monday, Díaz did not train with Simeone's group to avoid any risk before the trip.
The arrival of the player comes at a crucial moment for Sevilla, which will travel this week to the pre-season training camp in the Netherlands. The club's intention is for Díaz to integrate into the team's dynamics as soon as possible to work under his new coach. With this signing, Sevilla strengthens the left flank, a position in which he will compete with the current starter, and adds versatility by being able to play as a winger as well.
Díaz thus becomes the sixth signing of Sevilla FC for the 2026/27 season, in a summer window where the club aims to rejuvenate the squad and provide more depth. The Sevilla fans eagerly await the arrival of a player who has already demonstrated his ability in high-level matches.
