Journalist Alejandra Navarro, deputy director of ABC Sevilla, has been named Trianera of the Year 2026. The recognition, awarded by the organising committee of the Velá de Santa Ana, will be presented next Sunday, July 26, at 22:00 during this major festival in Seville.
Navarro, who has lived in Triana since birth, admits that the news caught her by surprise while she was travelling in Prague. “The director of the Triana District called me, and the first thing I thought was that it was about a problem or a work issue. I was almost speechless, in shock,” she recounts. The journalist expresses that she feels “very happy, extremely excited, and grateful” for an award she considers “very beautiful.”
Her connection to the neighbourhood is deep: she made her First Communion at the Santa Ana parish and studied at the Cristo Rey School, with Calle Betis as a witness. When she started her family, she did not hesitate to stay in Triana. “There was no better place than Triana to live, and here I continue,” she states with laughter.
For Navarro, the award represents a “great responsibility.” She emphasises that she has always considered herself “an anonymous person, very much from the neighbourhood,” and that the selection has filled her with satisfaction. As a journalist, she highlights that her media outlet has told “the story of Triana since its foundation,” focusing on neighbourhood news throughout the year.
The Velá de Santa Ana, which this year reaches its most anticipated edition, has improved “a lot” in recent years, according to the awardee. “It’s a fantastic festival that brings together not only all the people from Triana but also all the Sevillians and tourists who come. It’s getting more beautiful every year,” she appreciates. Navarro invites everyone to enjoy the Velá with family and friends, assuring that Triana “welcomes everyone with open arms.”
The award presentation will take place on the day of Santa Ana, the festivity that names the evening. The journalist, who is proud to represent her neighbourhood, concludes: “I’m going to enjoy it, living it intensely, with the highlight being that on Santa Ana’s day I will receive the recognition.”
