The Sevillian municipality of Utrera begins the 2026/2027 school year with around 9,000 enrolled students across all stages. The main novelty is the implementation of the Intermediate Degree in Emergencies and Civil Protection at IES Ponce de León.

The 2026/2027 school year is already underway in Utrera with nearly 9,000 enrolled students from Early Childhood to Baccalaureate and Vocational Training. The mayor, Francisco Jiménez, and the Education delegate, Francisco Arjona, visited the CEIP Profesor Tierno Galván to see how the first days of class are progressing.

During the tour of the facilities, both municipal officials spoke with students and the teaching staff of the centre. The visit served to gain first-hand insight into the organisation of the school year start and the needs of the educational community.

By stage, the municipality has approximately 1,300 students in Early Childhood Education, 3,100 in Primary Education, 2,400 in Secondary Education, and 1,070 in Baccalaureate. In addition, there are around 1,100 students in Vocational Training, which reinforces the importance of Vocational Training in the local educational offer.

The educational network of Utrera consists of 23 public and private centres, including those located in the districts of Guadalema de los Quintero, Trajano, and Pinzón.

The major novelty of this year is the launch of the Intermediate Degree in Emergencies and Civil Protection at IES Ponce de León. This qualification expands the available Vocational Training options in the locality and opens new educational pathways for the youth in the area.

"The start of a new school year is always an important moment for our city, because behind every classroom are students who continue to advance in their education, families who support them, and professionals who work every day to provide them with the best possible education," declared the mayor.

Jiménez also wanted to acknowledge the work of the teaching teams: "To the teaching teams and all the professionals in the educational centres of Utrera for the work they do throughout the year."

With these figures, the school year begins in Utrera with an educational community nearing 9,000 students, a number that consolidates the municipality as one of the main educational hubs in the province of Seville. Classes are already in operation in the 23 centres, including the districts.
