Mayor Juan Manuel Valle and the Events Delegate, Juan Manuel Bernal, will preside over the lighting of the entrance at 21:30. The presidents of the football clubs and the Municipal School La Unión will be the stars of the inaugural event.
The Los Palacios and Villafranca 2026 Fair kicks off tonight with the lighting of the fairground. The inaugural event will begin at 21:00 hours at the entrance of the Fair Real, featuring local artist Dore Cruz, and half an hour later the official lighting will take place.
In this edition, the City Council wishes to recognise the work of the presidents of the local football clubs and the Municipal Football School La Unión, who will be in charge of activating the mechanism alongside the mayor, Juan Manuel Valle, and the municipal delegate for Tourism and Events, Juan Manuel Bernal. Members of the Municipal Corporation will also attend the event.
After the lighting, at 22:00 hours, the traditional “pescaíto” dinner is scheduled at the Municipal Booth, with entry at 22:00 and starting at 22:30. The inaugural day will conclude with a performance by the orchestra Trío Nueva Luna at 22:30 and a copla concert by Rocío Guerra, who will present the show “Mi Garlochí”, a tribute to Isabel Pantoja, at midnight. The orchestra will perform again at 01:30.
Coinciding with the start of the Fair, the City Council has introduced the Punto Violeta, which will be set up next to the entrance of the fairground. This space will provide information, prevention, and support in the event of potential situations of gender-based violence. The presentation involved the municipal delegate for Equality, Chari Parejo, the delegate for Health and Consumption, Carmen María Molina, representatives from the Security Forces, municipal technical staff, and the Andalusian Institute of Women in Seville. The initiative will be supported by Cruz Roja.
As a new feature, this year a specific campaign against chemical submission has been launched. At the Punto Violeta, bracelets will be distributed to detect potential substances in drinks. In the event of a colour change, it is recommended to seek help and report it immediately to the Local Police, the Guardia Civil, or the Punto Violeta itself.
“The aim is to reinforce preventive measures so that the Fair is a safe space free from gender-based violence, and that individuals who may find themselves in such a situation know they can go to the Punto Violeta and receive support,” highlighted Chari Parejo.
From Cruz Roja, technician Cristina Benítez explained that Cruz Roja Juventud is collaborating again in the initiative to carry out prevention and awareness tasks, as well as to address potential situations of gender-based violence or suspicions of chemical submission. The organisation encourages women who may find themselves in such situations to go to the Punto Violeta, where they will receive support based on listening and accompaniment, without judgment.
In environmental matters, the delegate for the Environment, Florián Ramírez, along with representatives from Ecovidrio, has presented the glass recycling campaign for this edition. More than 80 bins have been distributed among the booths, and over a dozen containers have been installed around the fairground, adapted to hospitality activities. The head of Ecovidrio, Juan José Zabala, thanked the collaboration of the City Council and the booth owners, noting that the goal is to continue increasing recycling figures during a Fair that sees a significant volume of consumption and waste generation.
The Fair will continue tomorrow, Thursday, September 24, with a festive day declared a local holiday by the City Council. On the occasion of Children's Day, the amusement park will offer special prices from its opening until 22:00 hours: all attractions will have a reduced price of 2.50 euros, except for the Roller Coaster and Remix, which will cost 3.00 euros. From 22:00, regular rates will apply.
The City Council invites residents and visitors to enjoy these days responsibly and in harmony.
