The Los Palacios and Villafranca Town Hall has obtained €498,623.17 from the 'Más Sevilla Turístico' programme of the Provincial Council to modernise the youth hostel at Maribáñez Park. The work includes the renewal of roofs and the improvement of the connection with the bungalows.
The Los Palacios and Villafranca Town Hall has received a grant of €498,623.17 from the Seville Provincial Council under the 'Más Sevilla Turístico' programme to reform the youth hostel at Maribáñez Park. The aid was granted on a competitive basis and has already been accepted by the council.
The mayor, Juan Manuel Valle, visited the facilities alongside the municipal delegate for Urbanism, José Manuel Triguero, and the local mayor of Maribáñez, Patricia Romera. The municipal project was presented in the first call and received a favourable evaluation, although it was excluded due to lack of budget availability.
“We are very pleased because we have secured a grant of nearly €500,000 for a project we have been working on for some time, which will allow for a comprehensive renovation of a significant part of the Maribáñez hostel facilities.”
The work will include the demolition and renewal of the roofs of the cafeteria and multipurpose room buildings, as well as the toilets and storage areas. Interior improvements in carpentry, masonry, and cladding will also be carried out.
The action will serve to better connect the hostel buildings with the bungalows recently installed with funding from ERDF funds, which will improve accessibility and functionality of the complex. The aim is to resolve issues of water infiltration and the deterioration of construction elements typical of an infrastructure that is many years old.
The mayor highlighted that Maribáñez Park is the hub of a space with possibilities for sustainable tourism, environmental education, and family leisure. He recalled initiatives already underway, such as the summer camp, and pointed to the possibility of expanding these proposals throughout the year.
“We want to make the most of the opportunities offered by the park, the hostel, and the bungalows, promoting the development of nature education activities, leisure, and the reconciliation of family and professional life, as well as contributing to combatting tourist seasonality.”
The Town Hall is already working on the technical definition of the project and specific actions to begin the work as soon as possible. According to Juan Manuel Valle, this investment will allow “to give the facilities of Maribáñez Park the value and level of use they deserve, improving an infrastructure with significant potential for the municipality and for the development of new activities throughout the year.”
The reform thus aims to extend the use of the site throughout the year and reinforce its role as a tourist and educational resource for the residents of Los Palacios and Villafranca.
