Lipasam and Ecovidrio install themed containers featuring Disney, Pixar, and Marvel characters in the Prado Gardens from September 22 to October 13. The campaign aims to promote glass recycling among Seville families.
The municipal cleaning company Lipasam and Ecovidrio have once again joined forces with Disneyland Paris to launch the sixth edition of a campaign that is already well-known on the streets of Seville. The goal is for the youngest members of the household to associate the act of separating glass containers with a fun moment, rather than just another household chore.
The themed containers featuring characters from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel will be installed in the Prado Gardens from September 22 to October 13. During these three weeks, any family that visits can deposit their glass waste alongside figures such as Frozen, Woody, Jessie, Iron Man, and Black Panther.
Alongside the igloos, the organization will set up an information point staffed by environmental monitors. They will explain to citizens how to properly separate containers and distribute reusable bags to facilitate the transport of glass to the green container.
The initiative is supported by the Department of Sustainability and Environment of the Junta de Andalucía and the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces. It is not an isolated action: selective glass collection in the city has been growing for years, driven by collection at large events, the door-to-door system in the Horeca channel (hotels, restaurants, and cafés), and the installation of new containers.
The data from the first half of this year reflects this trend. In Seville, nearly 6.5 million kilos of glass containers have been collected selectively, a figure that confirms the progressive increase in citizen collaboration, although the City Council insists there is still room for improvement.
"Every time waste is deposited in its respective containers, pollution and unnecessary energy consumption are avoided, contributing to the promotion of the circular economy," noted Lipasam.
The municipal company reminds that glass is recycled at 100% and can have infinite lives and forms. For the process to work, it is essential to deposit containers in the green container, always inside it and without accompanying them with other types of waste.
The campaign, which is titled "Recycling Glass is a Great Adventure", can be visited in the Prado Gardens until October 13. After that, the themed containers will be removed and returned to their usual location.
