The La Rinconada Town Hall has signed an agreement with Smart City Cluster during the GreenCities Forum in Málaga to secure European funds and develop mobility, energy efficiency, and smart urban economy.
La Rinconada is already part of the ecosystem of smart cities coordinated by Smart City Cluster. The Town Hall took advantage of its attendance at the GreenCities Forum, held in Málaga, to seal an agreement aimed at opening the municipality to innovation, productive spaces, and smart urban economy.
The agreement pursues a specific objective: to secure European funds to finance technological solutions in mobility, accessibility, and energy efficiency. The delegate for Urban Agenda and Innovation, Raquel Vega, emphasized that the agreement will generate investment and employment opportunities in the locality.
"We are taking an important step forward in our innovation strategy to improve people's lives. We are joining the Smart City Cluster with an agreement that truly aims to work better for the citizens," highlighted Raquel Vega.
The councillor explained that the Town Hall wants to delve into the realm of innovation, productive spaces, and smart urban economy. Among the priorities to be addressed with this agreement is a mobility approach more focused on community demands regarding public transport, a more accessible council for citizens to report incidents and actions on energy efficiency.
"We also want to delve into the realm of innovation, productive spaces, and smart urban economy to continue generating opportunities in terms of investment and employment," added the municipal official.
The president of Smart City Cluster, José María Zambrano, welcomed La Rinconada to this ecosystem of smart cities and expressed satisfaction in collaborating to improve the quality of life for residents.
"There are things that public administration cannot do alone, so those aspects where public, private, and social sectors need to agree will be the framework in which we will collaborate in productive spaces, in matters of commerce, health, mobility, or smart housing," noted Zambrano.
The agreement will have a direct application in municipal services that affect the daily lives of the residents of La Rinconada, such as public transport, urban incident management, or the energy efficiency of buildings. Joining the cluster allows the Town Hall to access collaborative projects with companies and other administrations to finance these improvements with European funds.
