La Algaba and Los Molares will celebrate the processions of their patroness, Santa Marta, on July 29, while in the capital, the Hermandad de Santa Marta will display its titular image for veneration at San Andrés.
The feast of Santa Marta, commemorated on July 29, will once again take centre stage in the province of Seville. The towns of La Algaba and Los Molares will hold processions for their respective patronesses, while in the capital city, the Hermandad de Santa Marta will open the doors of the Parish of San Andrés for the traditional veneration event.
In La Algaba, the glorious procession of Santa Marta, the town's patroness, will begin at 21:00 from the Parish of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves. Prior to this, at 19:30, the Solemn Function of the Patronage will be held, presided over by the Reverend Gonzalo Salvador Fernández Copete.
This procession has a special significance, as it is the first procession of the image following its restoration by Agustín Martín de Soto and Antonio Gamero Osuna. The statue returned to worship on July 12, after an intervention that began in December.
The procession will feature several new elements. Among them, a set of four candlesticks and their corresponding poles, crafted by the Antonio Santos goldsmith workshop. The same workshop has also created a new set of incense burner and boat. Additionally, the first phase of the restoration and enhancement of the processional float, developed by the goldsmith Bernet, will be on display, which includes work on candelabra, base, and ventilators.
The route will pass through Plaza de España, Párroco Luciano, Sevilla, Córdoba, Juan José Herrera Bencano, Pedro Cano Amores, Plaza de las Moreras, José Antonio Geniz Moreno, Avenida Primero de Mayo, Avenida de la Constitución, 29 de Marzo, Pilar García, and back to the parish. The day will be accompanied by traditions such as the búcaros, the Water Festival, and trumpet calls at 12:00, 15:00, and 21:00.
In Los Molares, Santa Marta is also venerated as the patroness and holder of the Gold Medal of the town. The procession is scheduled for 20:30 from the Parish Church of Santa Marta. It will traverse the festively decorated streets of the town, in a celebration that includes flower petals from balconies, fireworks displays, and decorations placed by the residents. The musical accompaniment will be provided by the Banda de Música Nuestra Señora de las Nieves from Olivares.
In the capital, the Hermandad de Santa Marta will commemorate the feast with a veneration event at the Parish of San Andrés. The image will be displayed in the presbytery of the temple from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 18:30 to 21:00. The time for photographs will be from 18:00 to 18:30. At 11:00, a mass will be held for the intentions of the brothers and devotees, and at 21:00, the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration will take place to conclude the 2025-2026 course, presided over by the Reverend Francisco de los Reyes Rodríguez, parish priest of San Andrés and San Martín and spiritual director of the brotherhood.
For the residents of La Algaba and Los Molares, these processions are the highlight of a July dedicated to their patroness, featuring novenas, proclamations, and other events. In the capital, the veneration event allows devotees to honour an image that is part of the mystery of Christ's transfer to the tomb every Holy Monday.
