Former Sevilla FC footballer and world champion Jesús Navas has received the green light from the Dos Hermanas Town Hall to convert the Hacienda Meñaca, a 17th-century estate with a tower declared a Cultural Heritage Asset, into a rustic hotel and event space.
The former Sevilla FC and Spanish national team full-back, Jesús Navas, has achieved a new milestone off the pitch. The Dos Hermanas Town Hall has approved the adaptation of the rustic land of the Hacienda Meñaca, owned by the athlete since 2024, for its transformation into a rural hotel and a high-level celebration centre.
The estate, located in the municipality of Dos Hermanas but very close to Los Palacios y Villafranca —Navas's hometown where he currently resides— features a crenellated tower listed as a Cultural Heritage Asset (BIC), as well as traditional patios and old olive oil mills. Its origins date back to the late 17th century, although the current structure was consolidated in the 18th century under the direction of Gabriel Alonso de Meñaca, a canon of the Cathedral of Seville.
In the 20th century, the property belonged to the Pickman family, known for the porcelain factory of La Cartuja de Sevilla. Navas acquired it in 2024 with the aim of restoring its splendour and giving it a tourist and social use. Now, with the municipal declaration of "public and social interest," the project is accelerating.
The initiative includes the restoration of the historic farmhouse to convert it into a rustic hotel, preserving heritage elements such as the BIC tower. Spaces for weddings and exclusive events will also be created, utilising the restored patios and olive oil mills. The plan aims to reconcile heritage conservation with a sustainable business model.
The approval from the Dos Hermanas Town Hall is a key step for the estate to host hotel and recreational activities in a rustic setting. The classification as "of public and social interest" supports the project's viability and paves the way for rehabilitation works.
Jesús Navas, who hung up his boots in 2024 after a successful career with Sevilla FC and the national team —with which he won two European Championships and a World Cup— has demonstrated his business acumen. The Hacienda Meñaca adds to the former footballer's other investments in his homeland, where he has bet on rural tourism and the enhancement of historical heritage.
The residents of Dos Hermanas and Los Palacios y Villafranca will see how this architectural gem regains its activity after decades of partial abandonment. The project anticipates the creation of local jobs and the revitalisation of the area, which already has other tourist attractions in the Bajo Guadalquivir.
The estate, with over three centuries of history, will once again be a meeting point, this time for travellers and celebrants. Although there is no official opening date, rehabilitation works could begin in the coming months, once the permits are finalised.
The crenellated tower, a silent witness to the passage of time, will be the emblem of a hotel that promises to combine rustic luxury and Sevillian tradition. For Jesús Navas, this project is also a way to give back to his land part of what it has given him.
