The Equality Delegation of Dos Hermanas has presented the training programme 'Learning in Equality', which offers over 50 courses and workshops with a gender perspective at various locations throughout the city.
The City Council of Dos Hermanas, through the Equality Delegation led by Mª de los Reyes Garrido Jaén, has launched a new edition of the training programme 'Learning in Equality', which has been held since 1998 with the aim of contributing to the personal, social, and professional development of women in Dos Hermanas.
The delegate presented this initiative on Thursday, which aims to "work towards full equality between women and men in Dos Hermanas... and especially to put an end to violence against women, which has hit us terribly this summer." As she recalled, to date, there have been 36 women murdered by their partners or ex-partners this year.
The programme, although primarily aimed at young people and women over 16 years, has been open to young people of both sexes and men for several editions, understanding that "the construction of a more equal society requires the involvement and participation of the whole community."
The offerings are organised into five thematic blocks: culture, personal development, women and health, crafts, and IT. Among the workshops are 'Creative Writing', aimed at young people aged 16 to 30 years; 'Artistic Drawing' and 'Understanding the Historical Heritage of Seville and Dos Hermanas', open to both men and women.
Proposals also include coaching for women, theatre workshops, bobbin lace, embroidery, digital literacy, and office automation, among others. The delegate has thanked the collaboration of local community associations and social, cultural, and sports centres that provide their spaces for the activities.
The workshops will be held in 14 locations throughout the municipality, including La Moneda, the Vistazul Social and Sports Centre, the La Motilla Social and Cultural Centre, the Active Participation Centre (Palacio Alpériz), the La Laguna Building (Fuente del Rey), the Miguel Delibes Social and Cultural Centre, and the Bécquer Building, the last two located in the Montequinto neighbourhood.
Within this programme, Garrido Jaén highlighted the twelfth edition of '9 Moons. For an Active and Responsible Parenthood', a proposal that supports families during pregnancy and the upbringing of children aged 0 to 3 years through nine workshops led by professionals in psychology, sexology, parenting, health, or pedagogy.
The workshops cover topics from 'Cultivating Couple Sexuality in Parenting' to 'Pediatric First Aid for Families', including breastfeeding, babywearing, family yoga, and infant massage. The goal is to promote responsible motherhood and fatherhood and to generate support networks among families in Dos Hermanas.
