The City Council of Dos Hermanas is finalising the activities for the European Mobility Week, which takes place from September 16 to 22 under the slogan "Mobility for All People". There will be rescue drills in two schools and a traffic cut in the city centre on European Car-Free Day.
The European Mobility Week 2026 is celebrated in Dos Hermanas from September 16 to 22 with a municipal programme that combines road safety education, security, and traffic restrictions in the centre. The Mobility Delegation, led by the deputy mayor Antonio Morán Sánchez, coordinates the activities.
This year's theme chosen by the European Commission is "Mobility for All People", with a special focus on intergenerational justice. The aim is for transport systems to be accessible and sustainable for all ages, from children to the elderly, regardless of income, location, gender, or abilities.
One of the most notable actions is the rescue drills for traffic accident victims aimed at schoolchildren. The first will take place on September 17 at CEIP Valme Coronada and the second on September 18 at Colegio Calasancio Hispalense, both starting at 10:00 hours. Local Police, Firefighters, Civil Protection, and health services will participate.
The European Car-Free Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 22 with a traffic cut in the urban centre in the morning, from 10:00 to 13:00 hours, in Plaza de la Constitución. Residents with garages and public services will be exempt.
The campaign, promoted by the European Commission and coordinated in Spain by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, aims to raise awareness about the public health and environmental benefits of public transport, cycling, and walking. Shared public space, the City Council reminds, provides more social equity, road safety, and less noise and pollution.
