The Gran Hipódromo de Andalucía 'Javier Piñar Hafner' will gather nearly 700 dogs of almost a hundred breeds on September 26 and 27 for the National and International Dog Shows, organised by the Canine Society of Western Andalusia with the authorisation of the Royal Canine Society of Spain and in collaboration with the Dos Hermanas City Council.
Dos Hermanas will become the host of Spain's official dog show circuit on September 26 and 27. The Gran Hipódromo de Andalucía 'Javier Piñar Hafner' will host the National and International Dog Shows for the first time, an event that will bring together nearly 700 specimens of almost a hundred breeds.
The event is organised by the Canine Society of Western Andalusia (SCAOCC), with the authorisation of the Royal Canine Society of Spain (RSCE) and the collaboration of the Dos Hermanas City Council. During the two days, participating dogs will be evaluated by national and international judges from Spain and other European countries such as Italy and Cyprus.
The public will be able to see breeds of all sizes in one venue, from the most common in the streets to rarer ones, such as the Chinese Crested Dog or the Afghan Hound. Spanish and Andalusian breeds will also play a prominent role, including the Andalusian Bodeguero, the Andalusian Podenco, and the Spanish Water Dog.
The programme includes working and utility demonstrations, as well as meetings and breed-specific competitions, allowing attendees to learn about their characteristics and abilities up close. The organisation aims for the event to also be a day of community for enthusiasts and families: children under 12 will enter for free.
The event will have a charitable component. During the event, a voluntary donation of 1 euro can be made, which will be entirely donated to UPRODEA, the animal protection association in Dos Hermanas that works with abandoned and needy animals.
