The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council continues its commitment to urban gardens. The Citizen Participation delegate, Teresa García Cruz, has evaluated the performance of the Santa Lucía facilities and confirmed that construction of a new garden space in the northern area of the city will begin shortly.
García Cruz explained that the council is working in coordination with the gardeners. While the City Council takes care of cleaning, painting, and maintenance, the beneficiaries are responsible for the productivity of the land and the care of community relations.

The delegate pointed out that this initiative is part of the objectives with which the gardens were launched: to implement active aging programs with physical activities in contact with nature, promote neighbourhood relationships and generational exchange, encourage citizen participation, and disseminate principles of sustainability and healthy living habits.
It also seeks the regeneration of urban spaces for the recovery of native and traditional products from the area, as well as providing a green space in the urban core. "Our commitment to this initiative is decisive, and we will continue to work on the care, maintenance, and collaboration with the gardeners to keep implementing this activity due to its beneficial repercussions," added García Cruz.
With the future expansion in the northern area, the local government aims to make Alcalá de Guadaíra a provincial reference for urban gardens. The measure will benefit the local residents, who will have more plots for cultivation and community gatherings.
