The City Council of Seville has allocated nearly 4 million euros to improvement works in the district of Los Remedios since June 2023. Mayor José Luis Sanz has visited Virgen de Fuensanta street, where a pedestrian project is underway.
The mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, has supervised the works on Virgen de Fuensanta street, in the Los Remedios neighbourhood. During the visit, Sanz recalled that the City Council has invested nearly 4 million euros in various projects in the district since June 2023.
The intervention on Virgen de Fuensanta will convert the street into a pedestrian area. According to the mayor, the street "was completely degraded and in a few weeks will definitely have a renewed Emasesa sanitation system, first-class paving, and new trees that will arrive in the upcoming planting season."
"Since June 2023, we have promoted numerous improvement and renewal projects in Los Remedios, aiming to enhance our streets, renew infrastructure, maintain our public spaces, and continue advancing the quality of services we provide to residents."
The mayor detailed that work has been carried out on the paving and improvement of several roads, such as the areas around the Las Delicias and San Telmo bridges, Plaza de Cuba, the avenue of República Argentina, and Virgen de Luján street, with a total investment of 623,000 euros.
Streets such as Virgen de la Cinta, Virgen de Todos los Santos, and Alfredo Kraus have also been redeveloped, allocating 320,000 euros to improve sidewalks, pavements, and accessibility. Other projects in Virgen del Valle, Virgen de la Fuensanta, and Madre Rafols have renewed supply and sanitation networks with an approximate investment of 300,000 euros.
In the educational field, the sports courts of CEIP Vara de Rey have been renovated, with 13,000 euros in 2023 and over 28,000 euros in 2025. For 2026, Sanz announced the start of the renewal of supply and sanitation networks on Juan Sebastián Elcano street, between Fernando IV and Virgen de la Cinta, with an investment exceeding 400,000 euros.
The mayor highlighted the comprehensive improvement program for Parque de los Príncipes and its surroundings, which includes actions on sports facilities, a fitness cube, a calisthenics area, a new dog park, improvements to the pond, and children's play areas, as well as interventions in the area of Alfredo Kraus. The total exceeds 775,000 euros, although some are part of already accounted work packages and are not added again to avoid duplication.
In the vicinity of Santa Ana school, the sidewalk on Madre Rafols street has been renewed and expanded. The project includes widening the sidewalk in front of the school entrances and improving the pavement of 460 square meters of sidewalk, with grey concrete hydraulic paving of 40x40, finished with edging, grey concrete cobblestones at the laundry exit, and tactile paving to signal accessible routes. Elements such as handrails, curbs, drains, and wells will also be replaced or modified, complying with the Accessibility Regulations.
"This project around Santa Ana school has created safer and more comfortable school routes for children and their families. In this way, we reinforce this government team's commitment to a more sustainable and accessible city," Sanz stated.
Accessibility has also been improved in the area around Padres Blancos school, on Virgen de la Cinta street, with new shade trees, and on Juan Ramón Jiménez, by widening sidewalks and facilitating student entry and exit.
Regarding mobility, the mayor reported that "we are finishing the construction of the new roundabout at the intersection of José Delgado Brackenbury and Maestranza Aérea streets," a project that will improve mobility in the Tablada neighbourhood and access to the port area. "This new infrastructure will replace the current configuration of the intersection and will allow movements that were previously limited, avoiding unnecessary trips and improving the connection for both Tablada residents and vehicles travelling to and from the port and industrial facilities in the area, as well as to the large hypermarket located at this intersection," he detailed.
Additionally, new awnings are being installed in Tablada park and all the sidewalks next to the Jardín de las Cigarreras are being renewed. A left turn has also been enabled from Virgen de la Cinta street to Flota de Indias. These actions are complemented by the renewal of street lighting throughout the district, with an investment of over 7 million euros.
